Q: I am a private person and not an organization. How can I join the movement?

A: At the moment, only organizations can join the Movement.

Q: I don’t want my pledge to be published. Can I still be part of the movement?

A: The aim of the Energy Efficiency Movement is to bring together all stakeholders to act on energy efficiency. Public commitment is a key vehicle to create awareness and to drive action, and it is a necessary condition for joining the Movement.

Q: Are there any control mechanisms to see if Movers fulfill their pledge?

A: Movers are responsible for monitoring their progress themselves. The Movement is a hub for exchanging knowledge, promoting energy efficiency and spreading awareness. Each participant is fully accountable for their own commitment.

Q: Does it cost anything to join the Movement?

A: Currently there are no fees to join as a Mover. Companies wanting to join as Active Mover or Core Mover are invited to check membership conditions and costs discribed here: https://www.energyefficiencymovement.com/movers-categories/

Q: I have multiple partners in my ecosystem who want to join. What’s the easiest way for them to be part of the movement?

A: The same way as you did, by filling-out the Join the Movement – form.

Q: Who initiated this movement?

A: The Movement was initiated by ABB in March 2021 and transitioned into an association in May 2024. ABB and Alfa Laval are founding members of the association.

Q: Why is the EEM registered in the EU Transparency Register?

A: The EEM registered in the EU Transparency Register (REG Number:   365376396312-27) to demonstrate its commitment to openness and integrity in line with its Articles of Association and its Code of Conduct and to enable the EEM to share its knowledge and experience to promote energy-efficient solutions and technologies and to accelerate the transition to energy-efficient economies. In addition, in 2025 the EEM has had the privilege to be the partner for the 10th IEA energy efficiency conference along with the European Commission.
